My name is Allan Starr and I have been the Pastoral worker for Liberty Christian Ministries since February 2014. I am married, with three children, and enjoy attending a local church. I was trained as a pastor and have spent ten years ministering in Sydney in three different Anglican churches. Previously, I worked as a civil engineer and also at a bank.
As a pastor, I am keen to support Christians who struggle with same-sex attraction, to talk and pray with you, as we explore God’s word together. Same-sex attraction is not part of my background or experience, so I don’t pretend to understand what it’s like first-hand. But like you, I struggle with various temptations and sins, and I want to help you live a godly Christian life.
The most important element for spiritual growth is our relationship with the Lord Jesus. We all know that only in heaven is everything made perfect. But that does not mean we cannot grow in Christian maturity in the present and become more and more what God intended us to be. The other crucial element for spiritual growth is having good support from others, and so one of the best ways I can assist you is to help you develop adequate support structures. I also am keen to support Christians who have a family member with same-sex attraction. Liberty runs two support groups for those with sexual-minority family members, and I can also provide personal pastoral support. Click here for further information.
My other role is offering resources, training and support to churches and those in ministry as they seek to care for those impacted by same-sex attraction, and teach Christ’s people God’s will for human sexuality. Click here for further information.
Please feel free to email or phone me, and I will be happy to work out with you how Liberty can best assist you. Please note I will be finishing up with Liberty on the 1st December 2017 and moving into a different field of ministry.
